This year’s Louisiana Veterans Festival will be held Saturday, May 18th from 3pm-9pm. In preparation for the festival, the City of Slidell is announcing that Heritage Park, the boat launch and roads immediately outside of the park will be closed in conjunction with the event.  Heritage Park and the Heritage Boat Launch will closed to the public beginning at midnight, Friday night (May 17th) and will be reopened for Public Access by 6 AM, Sunday Morning (May 19th).  The public may instead use the Slidell Marine boat launch at Nathan’s restaurant but boaters must park in the street and not in the parking lot.

The Louisiana Veterans Festival, presented by the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity, provides an opportunity for families and friends to celebrate our veterans for their service. The festivities will be held in Heritage Park on Saturday, May 18th from 3 to 9 p.m. There will be great food and drinks, live entertainment and fireworks. $15 general admission, veterans with a military ID and children 12 and under get in free. The City of Slidell advises motorists that 2nd St. will be closed for construction at Erlanger Ave. and at Bouscaren St., starting Monday, May 20th, and will open Friday, May 24th.

The City of Slidell has issued a Boil Water Advisory as a precaution due to a loss of pressure from a repair on private water lines. The following addresses are affected:

1303 TOWN CENTER PARKWAY

RETREAT APARTMENT COMPLEX

Notices have been posted for the affected addresses by the City of Slidell. The Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals analyzes all the water samples. It usually takes several days. Everyone will be notified once the advisory has been lifted.
