Request an Officer – Detail / Special Event
Request an officer from the Slidell Police Department to speak at your event, such as HOA Meetings, Summer Camps, Professional Organization, Boy/Girl Scouts, Community Meeting, etc.
The Slidell Police Department believes in engaging the community. To do this, we offer programs, information, and resources that bring officers and residents together. Explore this section of our website for more information about National Night Out, the KAP program, and our Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
National Night Out
Each October, the Slidell Police Department participates in National Night Out Against Crime. National Night Out is a nation-wide crime prevention event. The night is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and unite our communities. It is a great chance to learn about crime prevention, while also celebrating your community and spending time with your neighbors and local law enforcement.
We invite you to register for National Night Out today. Registration is free and required each year. Once registered, you’ll receive more information.
Kids and Police (KAP) Program
The KAP program is a mentoring program designed to encourage positive interactions between kids and police. Several Slidell Police officers have gone through specialized training in order to be mentors for this program.
Chief Randy Fandal says this is something I am very passionate about and truly believe it will make a difference in our community. Our youth are our future. I believe we can make a positive difference and potentially change the life of several kids in our community.
For more information about the KAP Program, please call 985-643-3131 Ext. 9.
Slidell PD Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
In a BOLD, unprecedented move, Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal wrapped a police car in pink to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Starting tomorrow, the pink police car, clad with breast cancer awareness ribbons, will hit the streets of Slidell. For a suggested minimum donation of $5, citizens will have the opportunity to sign the car with their name, the name of someone battling cancer, a cancer survivor, or in memory of a loved one. A locked box will be available inside of the car for cash donations, or people can donate via a GoFundMe account (Slidell Police Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign). All proceeds will go to our local Slidell Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.
Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal says, “After talking to several breast cancer survivors, this gesture is meaningful to so many people and will bring our community together. We all know someone who currently has or had breast cancer. One in eight women will develop this terrible disease. This pink police car will serve a great purpose by raising awareness and funding for research. I am happy to be a part of this project. It truly is awesome.”
The non-profit organization, Friends of the Slidell Police Foundation, is a primary sponsor for this project and covered the full cost of the materials used to wrap the police unit. Tommy St. Clair of GotchaDecals.com designed the artwork and donated his time and labor for this project.
The police car will make appearances at different businesses and locations around the Slidell area. A schedule will be periodically listed on the Slidell Police Department’s Facebook Page. A combination of several different Slidell Police officers will have an opportunity to drive the police car. We encourage people to take pictures with car and use the hashtag #SlidellPDBreastCancerAwareness
