Designed by Lisa Carroll-Dobson and Lee McElveen, the Slidell Success Program is designed to develop communication and leadership skills in Slidell youth. This program, directed at students between 15 and 17 years of age, is divided into two components. The first, the Ladder Program, will develop skills for public speaking, presentation development, impromptu speaking, and audience engagement. The second, the Youth Ambassador Program, builds upon the skills developed in the Ladder Program. Its’ primary purpose is to prepare selected participants to serve as ambassadors for the City at city, parish, and state-sponsored events. This component focuses on analytical thinking, problem-solving, team building, public relations, and City government.

The Ladder Program is scheduled to begin on January 30, 2018. Classes will be held in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of Slidell City Hall each Wednesday from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. for a 12-week period, excluding holidays. The Youth Ambassador Program will be offered in the fall. Should you know of a young person between 15 and 17 years of age, who you believe would be a good candidate for the Ladder Program, please e-mail SlidellSuccess@gmail.com to receive an application. Applications will be accepted through January 19, 2018. If you have questions regarding the program, please email and we will respond as quickly as possible.

This non-profit program is fully endorsed by Mayor Drennan and the Slidell City Council and is offered at no charge to students. The program relies on the generosity of sponsors to help defray program expenses. If you or your business are interested in becoming a sponsor for this worthwhile program, please contact Lisa or Lee at SlidellSuccess@gmail.com. We know that an investment in the young people of our area is not only a wise investment in each of them but also an astute investment in our City’s future.
