The City of Slidell procurement needs are obtained through a “centralized” Purchasing Department. The Purchasing Staff provides all city departments, including the Slidell Police Department, the necessary equipment, supplies, and services required in their daily operations while operating within the Louisiana State Public Bid Law (LA R.S. 38:2211-2296) and the City’s Purchasing Policy procedures. As monetary thresholds dictate, this is done either by obtaining verbal and written quotes, advertising requests for bids or proposals, and issuing purchase orders with successful vendors. Our formal bids and request for proposals are officially advertised in our local newspaper, The St. Tammany News. We are committed to afford every supplier an equal opportunity to participate in the procurement process. If you desire to be placed on the bidder’s list, please complete the Bidders Application Form and mail it to the Purchasing Department for consideration.
The Purchasing Department is also responsible for coordinating the city’s annual Surplus Property Sale. The sale is conducted by a public auction service and the general public is encouraged to attend. Sales are normally conducted during May of each year. This is a great opportunity to purchase used vehicles, equipment, and other items below fair market value. If you desire to attend please check the schedule and mark your calendar!
The Purchasing Department maintains the city’s A/E Professional Services List consisting of Architects, Engineers, and Landscape Architects. If you desire to be placed on this list, please complete the Professional Services Statement of Qualifications questionnaire form (see link below) and mail it to the Director of Finance at the address shown on the form.
