What do you want Slidell to look like in the next 20 years? The City of Slidell is working on a 20 year comprehensive plan and we want to hear from our citizens!

The City of Slidell is requesting public comments and will hold a virtual meeting on the following Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) plans:

  • 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan. This is a five-year plan that identifies community development needs and describes how the City will use CDBG funds to address these needs. The City proposes the following goals: Public Facility Improvements; Foster Coordination with Service Networks; Urgent Needs Public Service Activities; and Urgent Needs Public Facility Improvements.
  • 2020 Annual Action Plan. Slidell received $177,781 in CDBG funds for 2020. This plan identifies the specific projects the City will fund with this money. The City proposes to do improvements at Ducksworth Park, including a new multi-use field, new walking path, and new LED lights.
  • 2021 Annual Action Plan. Slidell received $184,548 in CDBG funds for 2021. This plan identifies the specific projects the City will fund with this money. The City proposes to install LED lights at Possum Hollow Park.

Information about the Planning and Zoning Commissions

The City of Slidell will host a public meeting for the NFIP Community Rating System Feasibility Study at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium. The meeting will include a presentation about items the city is addressing to reduce Flood Insurance Premiums for residents and the opportunity for public comments.

Join Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer and Keep Slidell Beautiful on Saturday, April 24 for Keep Slidell Beautiful’s Great American Clean Up starting at 9 am in Heritage Park.

Gather your families, friends, school clubs, church groups and civic organizations and volunteer to help keep our community clean. Lt. Governor Nungesser is even providing lunch, with a generous donation from the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board. And a big thank you to Coastal Environmental Services for cooking lunch!
