Mayor Bill Borchert

Slidell Mayor Bill Borchert has been a resident of Slidell for over 50 years. He is a graduate of St. Paul’s High School and Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Elected to the Slidell City Council in 2008, Bill has initiated numerous projects that have brought significant improvements to our community. Even though the councilman position is a part-time role, Bill dedicated full-time effort to serving our community. Among his many accomplishments during his first term in office, Bill was instrumental in bringing together key individuals to expedite the construction of the I-12 Sound Barrier Wall along Country Club Estates, a project that had languished for nearly two decades. He also made critical changes to retiree benefits, saving Slidell taxpayers an estimated $16 million in unfunded liabilities. Additionally, he brokered the deal that kept the Mosquito Control Headquarters located at the Slidell Airport.

Bill personally wrote the $1.5 million federally awarded grant that repaired the deteriorated bulkhead and broken sidewalks along Bayou Bonfouca at Heritage Park and added the First-Class Marina as lagniappe!
