Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer met with other City and Parish officials and representatives from the Slidell Police Department, Fire District 1, Acadian Ambulance and CLECO. Here’s some notes from the meeting this morning.
Team Slidell is in recovery mode. City crews are clearing roads, assessing damaged buildings, drainage choke points, water wells and pump stations.
CLECO reports that they have 400 crews in the Slidell area. They are assessing and trying to restore power to the 30,000 still without power in St. Tammany. Citizens are encouraged to check the CLECO outage map at https://myaccount.cleco.com/Portal/#/PreOutages for updates.
The city’s water system never lost pressure. Water service inside the city limits remains safe to use and consume.
Fritchie Park (905 W. Howze Beach Road) will serve as a distribution center. IMPORTANT: enter Fritchie Park from Howze Beach Road.
