The City of Slidell has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the following addresses due to a loss of pressure:

  • 345 – 364 Markham Drive in Westchester Estates subdivision

All affected areas have been notified by the City of Slidell. The Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals analyzes all the water samples. It usually takes several days. Everyone will be notified once the advisory has been lifted.

City offices closed May 29 in observance of Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer and the members of the Slidell City Council would like to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to our country.

City offices will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2023, and will reopen during regular hours on Tuesday, May 30.

Essential personnel will remain on duty. If Slidell residents experience problems with their water or sewer service, they should call the City Services 24-hour emergency hotline at (985) 643-6140.

Slidell Veterans Fest held on Saturday, May 20 – Heritage Park and Boat Launch Closures

In preparation for Louisiana Veterans Festival, the City of Slidell is announcing that Heritage Park, the boat launch and roads immediately outside of the park will be closed in conjunction with the event.

Heritage Park will close to the public at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, and will remain closed until 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 21. Both entrances to Heritage Park on Bayou Lane will be closed to traffic and public parking will be unavailable within the park.

The Heritage Park Boat Launch will be closed at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 and reopen at 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 21.

The Louisiana Veterans Festival, presented by the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity, provides an opportunity for families and friends to celebrate our veterans for their service. The festivities will be held in Heritage Park on Saturday, May 20 from 3 to 10 p.m. There will be great food and drinks, live entertainment and fireworks at 10 p.m. $15 general admission, veterans with a military ID and children 12 and under get in free. RESTORE program available May 16 to assist homeowners with damages from May 2021 storms or Ida

The RESTORE program will be at the Tower’s Building in Slidell and at Koop Drive at the St. Tammany Parish government complex on Tuesday, May 16, to assist anyone whose home was damaged in Hurricane Ida or the May Floods.

  • 1251 – 1290 Seventh Street
  • 304 – 364 Markham Drive

Slidell breaks ground on the Olde Towne Slidell Cross Walks Project

On Monday, May 8, Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer was joined by State Senator Sharon Hewitt and other elected leaders and members of city administration to break ground on the Olde Towne Slidell Crosswalks Project. This project will add brick paver crosswalks at the intersections of Cousin Street and Carey Street, Cousin Street and First Street, First Street ad Robert Street, and Robert Street and Carey Street in Olde Towne Slidell.

McDonald Construction is the contractor and the estimated cost of the project is $225,000. State Senator Sharon Hewitt was able to have $200,000 appropriated for this project through a line appropriation in the State’s budget.

“This project came to fruition from the Slidell Main Street Master Plan meetings, and I know that Olde Towne residents and businesses are excited about this project,” said Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer. “I would like to thank Senator Hewitt for her help in securing funding from the State for this project.”

The first street closures will begin on Monday, May 8, and additional intersection closures will be announced.

Olde Towne street closures announced for Olde Towne crosswalks project

Starting on Monday, May 8, the intersection of Cousin Street and Carey Street will be closed for construction. Barring any unforeseen issues, the intersection is anticipated to reopen on Friday, May 12.

This closure marks the beginning of the Olde Towne Crosswalks Project, which will add brick paver crosswalks at the intersections of Cousin Street and Carey Street, Cousin Street and First Street, First Street ad Robert Street, and Robert Street and Carey Street. Public meetings announced for CDBG Annual Action Plan and Citizen Participation Plan

The City of Slidell invites public review and comment on the City’s 2023-2024 CDBG (Community Development Block Grant Funds) Annual Action Plan and Citizen Participation Plan.

The 2023-2024 CDBG Annual Action Plan identifies the specific projects the City will fund with CDBG funds. The City anticipates receiving $159,439 in CDBG funds for 2023. The City proposes to utilize 80 % of the received allocation for project activities in area parks with in the CDBG Target Area CT409 and 20% for Administration and Planning.    

The Citizen Participation Plan provides for and encourages citizen participation in the Community Block Grant Program. Proposed amendments include but may not be limited to the following: flexibility in publishing notices of public hearings, definition of substantial amendment and addition of definitions to add clarity.

As part of the public review process, the City will hold two public hearings for public comment; Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, and Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6pm to 7pm. Both meetings will be held in the Mayor’s Community Meeting Room, First Floor, 2055 Second Street, Slidell LA 70458.

All residents, particularly low to moderate income persons, are encouraged to attend one or both public hearings. The City of Slidell’s Bayou Jam concert series continues on Saturday, May 6, with the Bayou Jam debut of Sugar Shaker at 5 p.m. in Heritage Park Admission is free.

“Bayou Jam concerts are a great way to celebrate as a community,” said Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer. “We invite you to come enjoy a free concert in Heritage Park with your family and friends and start your Saturday night right here in Slidell!”

Sugar Shaker has provided years of memorable performances for audiences across the world. Having been named one of New Orleans’ best bands by The Times-Picayune, The New Orleans Advocate and Offbeat Magazine, they are an ensemble band with their own individual style and personality. Their members have toured the world with Maroon 5, Marc Broussard, Kenny Chesney, The Walt Disney company and more. Their music spans decades of standards and classics to the current hits of today.
