Municipal Benefits:

  1. Health, dental, vision, and other supplemental insurances offered after one full month of service.
  2. The City of Slidell will contribute 90% of the medical premium for single employees. For all other tiers the City contributes 75%. This means your portion of the total premium will be 10% for single coverage and 25% for all dependent coverage.
  3. City of Slidell pays 29.50% into employee’s pension.
  4. Retire at 33 years at 100% of salary.

  10. State Supplemental Pay $600 monthly ($7,200 annually) for those eligible.
  11. Education Pay. $500 annually for Associates Degree, $1,000 annually for Bachelor’s Degree, and $2,000 annually for Master’s Degree.
  12. Incentive Pay for joining eligible teams such as SWAT, Honor Guard, Etc. $900 annually.
  13. Uniform Allowance $1,200 annually.

Police Department Selection Process
The process begins with a written/video exam and physical fitness testing. Once testing is completed and the applicant has passed both requirements applicant must fill out a packet for employment (background check). Once completed the applicant is placed on the eligibility list. The applicant will have to also be available to do an oral interview with the Chief of Police office. Once hired, must pass a polygraph, psychological and physical.
