Engineering Department

The Department of Engineering is responsible for providing technical support for construction and development activities within the City. The Department’s seven employees include engineers, inspectors, CAD/GIS system operators, and a secretary. Day-to-day activities include review of new development plans for drainage and flood control regulations compliance, inspections connected with liquor/beer permit applications, analysis, and review of traffic studies, analysis, and review of existing storm drainage facilities, inspection of new storm drainage facilities, preparation of opinions of cost for various City capital projects and coordination of capital improvement programs.

Engineering Department Responsibilities: 

  • Primary advisory agency to the City government for the development, and expansion of the City’s infrastructure system.
  • Defines, studies, develops, and administers capital improvement projects related to the City’s infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinates and supervises private consultants and contractors employed by the City on infrastructure systems projects.
  • Administers subdivision and development codes and ordinances as they fall under the responsibility of the City Engineer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Mayor or the Chief of Staff.
