Bayou Lane and Heritage Park parking closures announced for Christmas Under the Stars Setup and Event

The section of Bayou Lane running through Heritage Park, from the boat launch to Pennsylvania Avenue, will be closed to vehicular traffic for Christmas Under the Stars event setup through Friday, November 20, 2026.

After Nov. 20, Bayou Lane will reopen to traffic, but the parking lots in front of the playground and Heritage Park will remain closed. The closures will not affect the boat launch.

Bayou Lane will close again for Christmas Under the Stars from 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, until 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, and from 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, until 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.

Visitors wishing to access Heritage Park and the children’s playground should park in the Heritage Park overflow lot at the corner of Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue.

This year, Christmas Under the Stars is celebrating its 39th anniversary. Join us for holiday festivities at Heritage Park on Friday, Dec. 11; Saturday, Dec. 12; Friday, Dec. 18; and Saturday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Enjoy free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 6 to 8 p.m., live entertainment, life-size Christmas cottages, Slidell’s Nativity created by Lori Anselmo, and the Community Christmas Tree. This year, we’re adding more lights and decorations, food vendors, a Candy Cane Lane Walk, a children’s games area, and art and craft vendors.
