DESCRIPTION:Slidell Mayor Bill Borchert\, the Slidell Ministers’ Association\, and the Ministerial Alliance of Greater St. Tammany invite all citizens to attend Slidell’s 34th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. The event will be held on Thursday\, May 1\, 2025\, at 12 p.m. at Heritage Park. \n“Join us for prayer and intercession for the healing of our nation\,” said Mayor Borchert. “Local pastors and community leaders will lead us in prayer for our city\, state and nation. We will be adding our prayers to tens of thousands of believers across the nation.” \nThe National Day of Prayer\, established by Congress in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman\, is observed annually on the first Thursday of May. This nationwide observance invites people of all faiths to pray for the nation. The observance reflects America’s heritage of prayer and reverence for God\, dating back to the country’s founding. \nThis community tradition brings together residents from all walks of life in a unified moment of reflection and prayer. Local religious and community leaders will guide attendees in prayers focusing on various aspects of community and national life.
